咖啡在碾磨加工過程中會產生大量的咖啡渣，咖啡渣不但堅硬，口感也差，就連給家畜做飼料都不行，只能被當做廢物扔掉。看到無數袋咖啡渣被拉出工廠直接倒掉或者淹埋，洛克塞心裏很不好受。</div>

有一次，洛克塞像往常一樣在廠房裏碾磨咖啡，在調試一杯咖啡的時候，他一不小心把糖水瓶倒翻在了一堆咖啡渣上，下班前他準備清理時，沒想到那些咖啡渣竟然牢牢地結成了塊狀，砸都砸不開。洛克塞突然靈感大發：既然如此牢固，如果把咖啡渣做成建築材料，那會怎麼樣？</div>

用糖作輔料加工建築材料當然不合適，那麼用什麼東西取代糖，既不易腐爛又牢固呢？洛克塞在走訪了無數家建築材料工廠之後，最終選定了用PS粉，PS粉既便宜又牢固，最主要的是無毒無害，綠色環保。洛克塞嘗試着把PS粉和咖啡渣混合起來，加工成各種質地堅硬的柱體和板形材料，用來替代木材，從而減少了對森林的破壞。</div>

洛克塞隨後向哥倫比亞政府申請了專利。政府非常重視，贊助洛克塞成立了咖啡渣材料製造公司。</div>

一年後，洛克塞的第一批咖啡渣材料終於出爐了，他在公園裏造了一幢浴室、廚房、餐廳、客廳一應俱全的“樣品房”，全部造價還不到七千美元。工程師們在檢測後發現，住在這樣的房子裏，即使遭遇到山體滑坡也不用害怕，沒有哪一塊石頭能有足夠的力量將其壓扁！</div>

咖啡渣材料很快成爲人們蓋房子的用料首選，咖啡渣房屋更是成爲了哥倫比亞人新一代的住宅典範。短短一年時間，洛克塞就先後在麥德林、卡利、巴蘭基亞、卡塔赫納等十餘座城市建立了總經銷，甚至包括中國、美國、英國在內的無數個環保理念比較強的國家，也紛紛開始向其飛出訂單，一片供不應求的景象！</div>

洛克塞憑藉着大膽的設想和獨特的智慧，不僅成功改寫了咖啡渣的命運，還成功改寫了自己的人生。在2010年10月份的美國《財富》雜誌中，有文章這樣評論洛克塞和他的咖啡渣複合材料：“用咖啡渣蓋房子，聽起來是多麼不可思議，但洛克塞做到了，他爲整個建築界添上了歷史上絕無僅有的精彩一筆！”</div>
